Biggest waste of money ever, the Victoria has been sitting in drydock for almost 3 years absorbing most of the resources to fix the surface ships. We should have bought new because those damn limeys ripped us off!!!

I think the principal of caveat emptor really applied here. I don't think the Brits ripped us off, (not sure about the infamous pizza size dent in the Unseen/Victoria). We badly underestimated the costs to bring the Subs up to speed after they had been sitting five years.
Agree they have been a huge drain on repair resources, but I think they will be light years of what we had. Its to bad we couldn't get nuclear to give some under ice capability.

We tried getting Nuclear in the late 80's but the problem being the term "Nuclear" meant to the un-educated that they were capable of carrying nuclear weapons there was a huge public outcry.

Besides I have seen first hand how the Navy cuts corners on maintenance due to a lack of parts and manpower and you cant cut any corners with nuclear power because the potential for disaster is very high.
