I wanna know what all those Canadians who were "Pro-Obama" are going to say when they lose their jobs because of a trade war. LOL

They'll just blame it all on Harper for not standing up to the US.

Well I have always been a protectionist, so in the long run if Canada sees it's manufacturing base return, I think that would be a good thing.

However, if Canada stands alone and continues to promote Free Trade (which there is really no such thing, 100% tarrif Free Trade without the Gov't giving aid to special groups to compete better in a global marketplace) then we may be hurt.

I think the only beneficiary of the so called Free Trade were the huge multinational conglomerates being able to move to countries with cheap labor and still selling to Canadians and Americans, just with a larger profit margin.

While in Canada jobs that paid $28 to $35 an hour in Ontario, (eg. Domtar, CIL) moved overseas and those Canadian jobs replaced by $8 and $12 telemarketing jobs.

The price of paper didn't come down, paint still costs the same??
