I think a lot of people close their eyes and plug their ears when this info gets published. It's clear to many of us that gun bans don't work but people still cry out for them.

Have you noticed that the volume of posts from anti-gun supporters are much less on threads where they have to argue the facts?

People want gun bans because they're immediate and they provide the illusion of effectiveness. People don't have to think about whether or not they work because at face value they look good. Solutions like this one (that actually work) take time, are not immediate to impliment, and actually require the public to about the problem and a solution. People like David Miller would much rather just "sweep it under the carpet" than have to deal with the real issues.

It's a feel good quick and easy solution to a complex problem and for politicians it's a much easier solution than actually doing what is truly required to fix the problem. It's sad so many people fall for it.

And false claims of success in Britain, Ausralia and Japan are still cited by the Hockey Pucks.

You can't draw any conclusion about Hnadgun Bans from a City doing it, while it is surrounded by places where the Ban has no affect.

So how would it help a country if it is surrounded by countries that have no ban.

Bingo! We all agree that many of these illegal handguns come into Canada from the USA. So how do we plan to implement a handgun ban that works while they are still coming in from the USA?Look at the UK as well, they are an island which should help them keep illegal handguns out but in fact handgun use has gone up significantly since being banned. Bottom line is bans aren't doing anything and we need to look at other solutions.

big difference between a gun ban and a gun registry there ridenrain..
the problem with places like toronto is there are far too many ethnic groups who support gang warfare.. gun registry wont stop the problem but it will help

Hey Kermy this isn't a thread about the gun registry, which also doesn't work. This is a thread about a total gun ban and how that doesn't work.

or how would it help law abiding citizens when they are surrounded by criminals that won't comply to the handgun ban?

Lets just ban the left handed guns. That should keep mayor Miller and his mealy mouth followers happy.
